When my brother called Wednesday morning after the election blue wave, I answered the phone: “The sun came up this morning!” He thanked me profusely because that’s what he needed to hear. Did God’s great eternal plan change with the election? No. Was God surprised? No. I admit that I did not see that coming, but God did. He knows the end from the beginning and He was prepared. No matter the changing of circumstances, Yehovah God is faithful. Jesus promised He would never leave us or forsake us, even to the end.
The sun came up again today. God still has His hand on the affairs of men. As Doreen and I have often said when facing rough times: “Well, I guess we will just have to trust the Lord.” Since we trust Him in good times, it makes sense to keep trusting through reversals.
Years ago we had our house burn down with almost all of our possessions lost. As we stood watching the flames, I commented: “I did not see that coming.” Doreen replied: “I’m glad I wore by comfortable shoes.” But the point is that we had peace, supernatural peace. It was real. Jesus was with us right there at the fire. He really was. Logically, everyone would have understood if we sort of “lost it, or freaked out a little.” But no, we experienced “peace that doesn’t make sense.” That’s my paraphrase of this verse. There is a supernatural peace that surpasses understanding.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:6-7
The faithful nature of God’s character is our foundation. He is the God who cannot lie! Every promise is true. The enduring historical example of this is the restoration of Israel. The devil has been trying eliminate them for thousands of years, but he has failed, because of Yehovah God’s faithful unconditional promises to His chosen ones.
“Thus says Yehovah, Who gives the sun for a light by day, the ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, and its waves roar (Yehovah of hosts is His name): “If those ordinances depart from before Me, says Yehovah, then the seed of Israel shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever.” Thus says Yehovah: “If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says Yehovah.”Jeremiah 31:35-37
The sun comes up every day! God declared His love and purpose for Israel is comparable to the very foundations of the earth and the entire universe! And because God keeps His word to Israel, we trust Him to keep His word to us through the same promised Messiah Yeshua! He is the ultimate promise keeper!
So, the sun came up again this morning! God is on His throne. We can trust Him.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for our leaders to hear from God, and have courage to do the right thing at the right time!

Why do I use God’s literal covenant Name: Yehovah? Here is a link to the explanation in my book: The Hebrew God Who Has No Name. And here is a link to a great visual from my friend Keith Johnson.
